Questions

What patients ask first

I see fine. Do I need an eye exam?

Many eye problems start without a change in vision. A regular exam checks the health of your eyes, not just your prescription.

How often should I have an exam?

Many adults come every one to two years. The doctor sets a schedule that fits your eyes and your health.

Do you work with my vision plan?

We work with many vision plans. Call to confirm yours, and we check your benefits before the visit.

Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?

A visit about a problem with your eyes, such as dry eye, is a medical visit. A routine exam is billed to a vision plan. Many visits include both.

Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?

Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after the exam, and you can fill it anywhere.

Can I have my contact lens prescription?

Yes. When the fitting is done, we give you a copy of your contact lens prescription.

What do I bring to a visit?

Your glasses and lens case, a list of the drops and medicines you use, and your insurance cards.

How much will it cost?

It depends on what the visit includes and on your plan. We check your benefits first, and we give you a written estimate if you pay yourself. How fees work explains it.

What if I have an eye emergency?

Sudden vision loss, a curtain over your vision, a sudden shower of floaters, an eye injury or a chemical splash needs care now. Call us right away or go to the nearest emergency room. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
